This week is Houseplant Week, so of course being a plant-loving brand, we HAD to talk about the occasion, specifically the benefits of houseplants in the workspace.
One thing we at Another Studio can all agree on, is the plants in our studio make it a nice and cosy place to work. We were all aware houseplants had benefits to our health, but I wanted to dive deeper to understand more.
I popped onto the RHS and Kew website for my research as I trust them as reputable sources.
Here are the most eye-opening things I found about the benefits of houseplants in the workspace.
Psychological benefits of having houseplants in the workspace:
- An improved mood
- Reduced stress levels
- Increased worker productivity and concentration levels (adding plants to office environments in particular)
- Improved attention span (in some scientific studies, but not all)
Physical health benefits of houseplants in the workspace:
- Reduced blood pressure
- Reduced fatigue and headaches by 20-25 per cent in one study
- Some plants, namely snake plants, can draw pollutants like benzene and formaldehyde from the air.
Fascinating, right?
Okay, so we’ve got some proof houseplants in the workspace benefit us and look after us in ways we didn't even realise, so how do give back and care for houseplants?
